Ductu appointed by Devon Careers Hub to deliver high quality work visits for Devon’s SEND students.

Ductu is thrilled to announce that we are, once again, working with the Heart of the South West Careers Hub and Devon County Council to organise, manage and deliver 180 new SEND student work visits.

This page has been published to tell you a little about this story, our previous work with both the hub and regional employers across Devon to deliver projects like this in the past, AND how you can get involved in this latest initiative either as a school or as a local employer looking to champion diversity in the workplace.

What is the Ductu and Devon Careers Hub project all about?

The Ductu and Devon Careers Hub project is the second of its kind.

The first project took place back in May to July 2024 where Ductu sourced 155 work visits, each one hosting 5 students – totalling a massive 775 student visits within three months!

This academic year (2024/25) we aim to build on that brilliant progress, with a further 180 student visits, connecting SEND students across Devon with the world of work and giving local employers the opportunity to connect and give back to the community in which they live and work.

What did the Ductu team do for Devon Careers Hub last academic year?

The challenge

As a Careers Hub delivering the “Experiences of the Workplace” project, the Devon Careers Hub needed a provider to source quality work experience opportunities for students who often struggle to find placements. They required a partner who could deliver highvolume, highquality opportunities across Devon within a tight timeframe.

Ductu S.E.N.D’s response to the challenge

Ductu applied their responsive personality and approach to this challenge without fear! With the team’s proven track record in business development, they applied both energy and experience within the education sector to organise and set 155 work placements with leading employers throughout the region.

The Ductu team have worked tirelessly on this project sourcing workplace visits across Devon providing Yr 10 students, who potentially would not have this exposure to the world of work, high quality visits with a range of employers and in some of the hardest to reach areas. The feedback has been positive, and we look forward to developing this work further.
