Young people with learning disabilities statistically have a 6% chance of entering paid employment when they leave school. We want to change that.
Ductu was born out of years of experience in the further education sector. We understand how limited the opportunities are for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), particularly within bigger organisations. We recognise that not only are the opportunities limited, but SEND students also find it much more difficult than their non-disabled counterparts to find meaningful interactions with employers. This leads to a disadvantage when leaving secondary school and heading into the world of work. We believe there should be a level playing field and we strive to provide fair opportunities for students who may miss out through disability or disadvantage.

SEND students can face challenges when interacting and connecting with employers. This is a further layer of complexity in searching for work. Secondary schools may also struggle finding suitable and meaningful experiences of the workplace for this cohort.
That’s where Ductu can help. We provide meaningful face-to-face interactions such as workplace visits, mock interviews, school visits and mentoring with well-known employers such as Hobbycraft, Ford, British Red Cross, RAC, British Gas, Village Hotels and many more. Our network of big brands is nationwide, meaning there are thousands of work placement opportunities for SEND students available across the UK.
What does Ductu offer my secondary school?
Ductu is a teacher resource enabling careers leaders and SENCOs to interact quickly and easily with major employers on behalf of S.E.N.D students. We help you bring employers and S.E.N.D students together to form meaningful interactions and opportunities where they are currently lacking.
Using our national employer network and strategic relationships, we have created a consistent and reliable SEND employability platform. You can easily search and book placements or interactions on our portal, and then we arrange all the necessary paperwork including risk assessments, insurances, and policies without any hassle for you or your team.
